Privacy policy
Matcha is a private introductions app. An AI wingman gets to know you through short games and letters, and introduces you to one person at a time. This policy says what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how to delete it.
What we collect
- Account: your name and email from Google or Apple sign-in. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email; we then receive an Apple relay address.
- Date of birth: to make sure everyone is 18 or older.
- What you tell the wingman: your game answers, your letters to the wingman, and the essentials you choose (your gender, who you would like to meet, what you are hoping for, an age range).
- Photos you choose to add. They stay hidden from everyone until you and an introduced person both say yes.
- Messages you send someone after you are both introduced, including photos and gestures.
- Phone number, only if you choose to share it with a connection; only that person sees it.
- Approximate area, never your exact location, only if you give it, so introductions are near you.
- Payments: if you pay for membership, the payment provider handles your card or UPI details; we only learn whether it went through.
- Technical: a notification token for your phone, and basic logs (times, errors) to keep the service running.
What we use it for
Only to run Matcha: to understand what you are looking for, to choose who to introduce you to and explain why, to keep people safe, and to process payments. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps.
Who else handles it
- Anthropic (Claude) runs the wingman. Your letters and answers are sent to it to write replies and understand you. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not train its models on this data.
- Supabase handles sign-in.
- DigitalOcean hosts our servers and stores photos.
- Razorpay processes payments, if you make one.
- Google and Apple deliver notifications to your phone.
Each handles data only to provide its service to us.
Who sees what
Nobody else sees your answers to the wingman. When you are introduced, the other person reads a letter the wingman writes about you, without your name or photos. Names and photos appear only after you both say yes.
Safety
Photos are screened before anyone can see them. Messages between people are checked for harassment and scams. If you report someone, a person at Matcha reviews it. Blocks are permanent and work both ways.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. Messages set to vanish are deleted from our servers once they expire.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and everything in it at any time: in the app, open You and tap Delete your account. See how to delete your account.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by writing to support@matchalala.com. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Adults only
Matcha is only for people aged 18 and over. Nobody under 18 can create an account.
